Gua Sha & Marma Point Therapies

Hello knowledge seekers!

We all know the feeling of being “stuck” of having “knots” in our shoulders and that feeling of stagnation that comes before getting sick.

Well, the word of the week is MICRO-CIRCULATION! It illustrates the necessity of exchange from old to new, from dirty to clean, from upset to calm. There are techniques to encourage micro-circulation. Yoga, of course, moves the lymph and blood through various physical poses and press points on the mat.

Gua Sha is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) used for 5,000 years. It’s a press/push of a stone or other smooth surface over the skin. This brings up circulation to the surface of the skin and the deeper tissues in the muscles and nerves. I think used gently and consistently, one could learn the meridians of lymph circulation by observation of gua sha alone. The areas that are pink and even are doing well. The areas that are white are not getting any ciculation and the pink and dark purple spots show there is beginning or long standing stagnation. Using the gua sha tools moves or even breaks up the micro-adhesions so circulation can recommence.

Marma Points are healing pathways treated with Ayurvedic tools kansa wands.
